Staplecross, East Sussex

Originally a small farm workers cottage with only one bathroom. We transformed the property into a four bedroom, three bathroom cottage. We added a utility and cloakroom and new living/dining area off of the sitting room. This featured a 3x1m sky light giving superb natural light and giving a modern contempory feel to the cottage. Natural slate and quarry tiling were laid downstairs along with over 40 pieces of structural and picture oak beams and posts.

The extension was built with brick to first floor and timber framed above including a second floor office / forth bedroom in the roof space. The catslide roof also included three even-sized dormers to the first floor. The cottage is now a mix of traditional building techniques and mordern architecture.
